Sad but true on the fitness standard.

BTW, that is a TON of weight! How much is that anyway?

Because of crossfit and biking, I know women, older men/women, smaller men, etc., who can meet stringent fitness/strength standards. It seems counter to the mission of law enforcement to eliminate standards just because some cannot or will not meet them. I am sure passengers would be less than happy were we airline pilots to successfully lobby away our semiannual proficiency checks just because we passed them years ago–I see no difference in having potential 911 responders at less than a very high physical fitness standard . In what could easily be a life or death situation, a positive outcome might be highly correlated to the fitness of the responders. It might even serve the public good as a deterrent if the bad guys knew ALL police were equivalent to crossfit monsters, regardless of size, age, gender. Would be interesting to have an independent audit of past cases to see whether fitness/strength have been issues.
