
Emily snatches at the 2010 Sectionals
As mentioned in this week’s newsletter and Wednesday’s blog post we are starting a Weightlifting and CrossFit Team. The point of starting The Team is to prepare athletes for competing in Olympic Weightlifting meets, the Tactical Strength Challenge, Powerlifting meets, and the CrossFit Games. The Team will have its own training program and training will start September 13th. Team members will occasionally attend regular EmerFit Group Classes but will primarily train during Group Coaching Sessions and special team practice sessions.
To join the team you must be able to train 3 or more days per week and you must have things together enough that you are or soon will be getting adequate rest and proper nutrition. Finally, you must compete in at least one judged non-EmerFit event in 2011.
Depending on your skill level and competition goals, joining the team may require some private training. Other than possible private training there is no extra fee for joining the team.
To join the team you must apply. To apply post a comment to this post with your answer to the following two questions:

2) Why do you want to be part of the EmerFit Weightlifting and CrossFit Team? What would make you a good team member?
You have until August 27th to post your answers. Accepted team members will be notified of their acceptance by September 1st. Team training will begin the week of September 13th.



Does the judged event include the Warrior Dash, or Tough Mudder?
Eric,
No. Members of the team may compete in events like the Warrior Dash but we won’t train specifically for them. Our regular CrossFit classes plus some extra running and maybe O-Course work would prepare you for the Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder.
The team is more focused on weightlifting events or the crossfit games.

1. kettlebells and crossfit events. i’m not sure i’m a good weightlifter, but i’d work at it with you guys if you wanted me to.
2. I would like to challenge myself more, and I always enjoy working hard personally, but mostly in a team environment. I could bring some spunk n love to team emerfit!

1) I am interested in competing but am not sure in what. Weightlifting of some sort sounds like the most interesting to me, but would be willing to do anything for the experience.
2) I would like to represent EmerFit and be a part of a team that can do well and have fun at the same time. I would also like something that will allow me to focus my training. I need a purpose.
1) All of the above, but to compete against the Diesel Weasel would be key!
2) Somebody needs to keep Brad and Jeff company. That would be my purpose.

- Oly – I have enjoyed the Olympic lifts the most over the last year. I get excited about working on the technique and control required to harness the power of the body, Oly is very mentally and physically challenging and rewarding. Also – there is nothing quite like preparing for and then participating in a competition.
2) Why do you want to be part of the EmerFit Weightlifting and CrossFit Team? What would make you a good team member?
I believe that one should surround yourself with what you want to become. I expect this team to have a focused pursuit of excellence, commitment to hard work/preparation, and to have fun together.
I would be a good team member because I bring a great work ethic, a teachable attitude, and enjoy seeing team members thrive. Oh – and I think this team could kick some tail.

I also am a good supporter and cheerleader!!
I want to continue reaching further levels of fitness and health and having the team to keep me accountable and to push me beyond what my mind thinks I can do. I also want to be a part of the team because I LOVE the camraderie of Crossfit and want more!!
I would be a good team member because I hate to disappoint people so that will be a good accountablilty factor for me!

I love Crossfit and have found myself wanting to become better at all levels of fitness and in every movement. The improvements that I have seen in the last year have been nothing short of impressive and have made me a believer in its ability to create sustainable growth in varied differant areas of fitness. I would love to continue to grow and I think one of the best ways to grow is through the accountability of a team. Knowing that a competition is near in the future would help me to strive to reach that next level necessary. I would love to be part of the team.

2. I have never competed in anything like this before and really want to be a part of it before I begin professional school. I am afraid that I won’t have enough time if I wait. If you all make me part of the team I will have no problem working out whenever you need me and keeping my diet straight for the duration. I am a watcher of all the stuff on the main site and am excited to finally compete. I promise to hold myself and the team accountable in all things as mentioned above ^, thanks laura. 2. Training to succeed is a whole lot more fun and productive when you have teammates there to grimace and collapse in a heap of sweat with you and to share in the celebrations of fast times and PRs! The team comps I did in the past were incredibly fun and I need/want more of it!
I enjoy pushing myself and others while having fun and I like to give really stellar high-fives!

Yes I want to do this. I want to be abalicious!
1. I would like to do Crossfit with Oly. Anything that helps my strenght and ability to compete well.
2. I have a very hard time losing. Wanting to win wakes me up in the morning. I have been on many teams before in high school and college but have missed them since. I need it back.
Like Adam, I too desire to be Abalicious.
I really enjoy the Crossfit Classes @ Emerfit, but need to have an outside goal to train for beyond the PR. I have realized that nothing happens without commitment, so by commiting to something larger than yourself, things get set into motion that cause chain reactions that eventually get you to your goal. This is the first step in that chain reaction.

I would like to compete in the Colorado Open in 2011, as well as the Tactical Strength Challenge.

I want to be part of Team Emerfit because it is a group of like-minded individuals with similar fitness goals, who want to push themselves beyond what they are currently capable of, with the goal of arriving at a stronger place.
What would make me a good team member? A willingness to try new things and expand my comfort zone, besides, I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and dog-gone-it, people like me.

I had a lot of fun competing with Team EmerFit this year at Regionals and would love the chance to do it again. And to take the more time to prepare would make us unstoppable! I enjoy competing with such amazing, inspiring people and would be happy to be a part of it.
What would make you a good team member?
And of course fun music and fun socks.
It is exciting to try new things and push myself and would be willing to do this for the team. I would bring excitement and smiles.

1. I would like to be on Team Emerfit!! I’m interested in all the above!
2. Now that I’ve seen how crazy some of the crossfitters are, I want to be like them! For me, being on the team will help me use my strengths and learn from other team members how to better my weaknesses.
I like being a part of something positive and motivating to keep me on track. I’m a great cheerleader and supporter for my teammates and I think I could continue to eat right and train hard to represent for the team!
