How did you hear about Emergent Fitness?
My aunt and uncle are members of CrossFit Red in Grand Junction. My aunt raved about it for months, so Ali and I tried it and loved it. CrossFit Red recommended Emergent Fitness to my sis and me and here I am.

How is your training different than your past gym experiences?
I used to go the the CSU gym and I didn’t like the fact that I had to “get ready” to go to the gym. I felt like I was a spectacle. Eventually it made me develop a body image issue. I started workout out more than 5 days a week to try to lose weight, and I counted every calorie I ate. I wouldn’t call what I did really working out. I was just going through the motions.

Since joining Emergent Fitness, I no longer struggle with body image and I know that fitness isn’t how much cardio you can do. My new definition of fitness is challenging myself to do something I normally wouldn’t have done and getting stronger.

What is your biggest reason for being and Emergent Fitness member?
Emergent Fitness has so much more to offer than a traditional gym. I love the competition and the community. EmerFit provided and provides me with a diverse social environment. I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to socialize with people with families and more life experience than I have. I like that.

Have you tried new activities since you started training at Emergent Fitness?
Yes, I am not a real runner, but I have run several 10K runs since starting to train at Emergent Fitness. I find it ironic that I can run these races and not train for them and still feel like I could keep running. The Bolder Boulder and the Turkey Trot were easy even without training.

What are some of your Favorite Movements?
I love sandbag get ups because I feel I am good at them. I also like Annie because of the double unders. I remember telling Brad that I thought it was the shoes that helped me get through the workout. Really, though, it was the fact that I had been practicing them for a year. It was the practice that helped me, not my shoes. :)

What are some of your Least Favorite Movements?
I dislike Box Jumps because I can’t breathe.

    First….My sister is a ROCKSTAR!!! Second….”I dislike box jumps because I can’t breathe!” So flippin funny to me!!! Third….She forgot to mention one of her favorite things about Emerfit is when the guys go shirtless:)

    On another note, I will be in with Tay in the morning to join in on the Christmas WOD!
