5k Times

I have started a records page that I will be getting linked into the main site and adding to next week. We will be practicing our rowing for the rest of May and testing our 5k again at the end of the month.
Irene’s Deadlift PR
April 30, 2008 | 1 Comment
Irene broke the 200 pound barrier with her deadlift last week. Nice job, Irene! A number of you spent time learning the split-jerk last week and I captured a good shot of Irene practicing that move too. I guess its Irene day on the blog.
Fran PRs and New Faces
April 24, 2008 | Leave a Comment
In the last 2 days many of our athletes did “Fran” and set new PRs. Jeff set a new gym record with a 4:08 time knocking Ralston from the top spot. I see a nice competition coming once Ralston is healed up from his victory at Battle Quest 8. Russell, pictured below, set a PR of 6:55 destroying his previous best of 10:28 set just two weeks ago. There were a number of other great improvements and I will get the record board updated this weekend.
Also we have a few new faces in classes this past month including Wayne and Shane pictured below.
Grand Opening

The grand opening and open house this past Saturday was a blast! Thanks to everyone who showed up. For those of you that missed it we did a kipping pull-up competition (winner Dennis Marshall with 45), 1k row competition (Mike Estlick at 3:30), a workout, and a BBQ. Door prizes included a month of classes, a private training session, a pair of Elite Rings, and a Enter The Kettlebell DVD.
We will announce more events like this soon. Don’t forget about our upcoming kettlebell seminars in Fort Collins this Saturday and in Denver May 10th.
More over in the Flickr Stream.

Father and Son Workouts
March 12, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Joel and his son Cody have been attending the evening CrossFit class since just before the beginning of the year. They’ve both seen marked improvements in strength, flexibility, coordination, and cardiovascular endurance. Plus, I believe they both enjoy the opportunity for some father-and-son time. In this photo they were alternating between 10 reps of deadlift and 10 reps of bench press for 10 rounds. Strong work!
The Stare

Just this morning I was telling our newest member Jen about the “tool stare down” also known as the “CrossFitter gaze”. After she left I uploaded the pictures from this past Saturday’s workout only to see her staring down the box during a break in her box jumps. I think Travis just finished his jumps in this photo but he might be giving the box a bit of the death stare out of the corner of his eye.
All of our athletes do it and the better you get the less staring you’ll do. Why stare at the implement when you could be doing another rep? Easier said that done, I know.
Welcome to CrossFit Jen. Its nice to have the law enforcement community starting to join us!
In the comments Jon points out an amazing video of a firefighter over at Albany CrossFit. Check out their post on “Quitting” too and you’ll read about another CrossFit “stare. The look you get from the uninitiated when you try to explain your workout. The dumbfounded stare usually goes with questions like “You did what?” or “That was one workout? 100 reps?”

Here is a shot of the 5:30 crew getting started on a couplet of thrusters and swings.
CrossFit was in the Washington Post last week and the article was reprinted by the Denver Post this Sunday. I have a copy at the gym or you can see it online here. The printed copy has more photos of CrossFit Denver.
