The EmerFit Kid’s program is designed to improve each participant’s overall health and wellness. Countless studies have shown that those who strength train will have fewer health problems in the future, so why not start them young?
This is an hour long class that takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30 pm, at Emergent Fitness. Each session will consist of a warm up, strength work, and conditioning/game. Classes are taught by EmerFit Head Coach Jeff Guthrie.
The primary benefits of the EmerFit Kids program include:
Overall Health and Wellness
This is the primary goal of the EmerFit kids program. By teaching kids proper strength training technique and methods they will develop not only stronger muscles but also improved flexibility, body composition, endurance (muscular and cardiovascular), coordination, balance, and accuracy. There is also evidence that children who are physically fit and active will perform better in the classroom as well.
Injury Prevention
A common myth about youth strength training is that it is dangerous and harmful to their developing bodies. This could not be further from the truth. Statistics show that children are more likely to get hurt playing sports than they are in the weight room, and athletes who strength train with correct technique will have fewer health problems and injuries than those who don’t. Strength training will not only strengthen stabilizing muscles around the joints, it will also increase bone density and promote structural balance.
Nutrition
This may be the most overlooked component of fitness in the United States. An inadequate diet will hinder anyone’s mental physical performances, regardless of age. At EmerFit, we advise all of our athletes to maintain a life style of clean eating. The Kid’s program is no exception.
Knowledge
Your kids will be coached in several areas of strength and conditioning training, which will give them the knowledge necessary to maintain an efficient, effective, and, most of all, safe training program to continue as they grow older. Proper technique will be the number one priority. At Emergent Fitness, we want our athletes to have the motivation and knowledge to stay active and physically fit for a lifetime.
Character Building
In a program such as this, it takes a certain kind of athlete to commit to and complete it. At Emergent Fitness, we don’t just want to create stronger athletes, we want to create stronger people. Your kids will leave this program with a stronger work ethic, mental toughness, and a healthier sense of self.
Fun
We want kids to enjoy exercise and strength training because they are more likely to maintain a healthy lifestyle as they grow older. That will not happen if the kids do not enjoy it. We want the kids to have fun in this program by having positive interactions with their coach and peers, taking ownership of their progress, and playing games that incorporate the movements and concepts that they have been taught.
