This question is asked a lot by women who are afraid that lifting weight will make them look like the Hulk. Women are physiologically different then men and do not develop muscle in the same way. Those muscular women seen in body building are rare, a very select few who have the genetics to build muscles, with much added help from a very strict diet, years of training, and legal or illegal supplementation.

CrossFit scales workouts so that anyone can do the workouts no matter what their current physical level. We can train anyone from a child to a great grandma, from a couch potato to a conditioned athlete.
14. Why CrossFit?
CrossFit covers all levels of fitness, it’s functional movements not only are the best way to shape up and loose extra fat but they make us stronger in life. We squat in life every time we get up out of a chair, we push our selves up from the ground, we put things away over head. CrossFit strengthens our body for life. It prepares us for life to handle the unexpected that can be throw at us. Many police, firefighter, and military personnel have had great success in CrossFit training in preparing them for a job were peak fitness is needed at a moments notice.

Many sports can leave you unbalanced or weak in certain capacities and that weakness can be a detriment to the rest of your life.
19. I just want to look good in a bikini, is this what I want?
Yes. Not only will you burn fat more efficiently then any other training program but we teach proper nutrition to help you to know how and why eating that doughnut for breakfast with the vente carmel mocha keeps you from your six pack abs.
20. I have some injuries, can I still do CrossFit?
Most likely yes, as stated before the workouts can be scaled to each persons own capabilities. Set up and orientation and we can discuss your injuries and go from there.
21. How often do I need to work out?
We design the program for a 5 days on 2 days off training schedule. That is assuming the person is able to get enough sleep to recover and that outside stressors are not too taxing. We have seen people find success by training 3 to 5 times a week.
22. Do you follow the programming on CrossFit.com?
No. We use the methods and theory of CrossFit programming as explained in the CrossFit Journal and CrossFit Certifications. We augment these methods with others learned from coaching experience, discussions with other coaches, and research. Besides CrossFit our programming is heavily influenced by contributors to the Performance Menu like Coach Rut, Greg Everett, Nicki Violetti and Robb Wolf. We also incorporate ideas and methods from Mountain Athlete, Pavel Tsatsouline, Dan John, and Chip Conrad among others. While we fly the CrossFit flag we try to be as nonsectarian as possible.
Our programming changes on a regular basis as we learn and develop additional services so check our programming page for the latest details.
